FMP Designs!!

My plans for this project is to make at least 2 outfits. The first outfits being a Shabori and contortion pleat top with a funnel neck collar and a patch pocket, this will be matched up with a pair of box pleat trousers. For the second outfit it will be a halter neck diamond pleated dress.

FMP (Final Major Project) Inspiration!!

As I knew my skills lay in fabric manipulation I went on a search for books and text to inspire me. After a lot of searching this book by Collette Wolff; "The Art of Fabric Manipulation", gives you techniques and step by step stages on how to manipulate fabric. It also suggests different way in creating a similar effect.

One technique I really liked was "Shibori". This technique particularly stood out to me because of it textured look and 3D element. When I first looked at this technique it reminded me of octopus suckers and then from there I began to think out how you can see manipulations in nature and natural forms.

Once I had looked at natural form I thought I would try and go the other direction and research man-made objects that have a resemblance to fabric manipulation. Many buildings and structures are made from manipulating the buildings materials.

Image makeover 2:

This is also another design ideas for a garment/ garments
but this time  I have designed for twins. The garments
would come as a matching pair that I would make. This took
quite a while to get all the shading and everything accurate
so I can have a clearer picture.

The original image of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

After:
Where I have flipped it, Shaded, Drawn
and pasted to make it look as realistic as possible.

Image Makeover 1:

Look at this, Mila Kunis wearing my Garments that
I made for my Killerton House project!!!!!!!

I wish. I have designed and made this garment for one of
my projects then  I have edited and photoshopped my
dress onto this well known model and actress just to see how my
garments would look under the lime light and as part of someones actual outfit.

My Killerton House project was one of my favourite projects so far. It was a great oportunity to show our work in this exhibit so thousands of people to see all the hard work we had all done. It is also a great opportunity for us to get feed back from the public on why they like our work or if they didnt. However I was so pleased with my final outcome I had worked so hard to involve everything that captured the essance of Killerton house and the grounds. If you guys want to find out more about Killerton or how you can visit click here.

Although as a result of work on my project every sencond I hacve been unable to keep you up to date with how my work is going, however I do have some sneak peak images of my final outcome from my photoshoot..... and inside Killerton; which you will be able to go and visit soon.

A few image from a quick photoshoot:

I hope this had made you more interested in going to visit and see everyone amzing work.

FILE TYPES:

Before now I had no idea about file type and how important they really are, so here is a short post to help learn what the really are and what they do.

A file extension is a string of different file names that let the user and their computer know what type of file the document is run on. These are usually proceeded by a full stop to indicate the file type.
File types include: PSD/ JPG/ TIFF/ PNG/ GIF/

PSD- A PSD file (Photoshop Document) is layered image used in Adobe Photoshop. It is a format that Photoshop uses to save documents that allows users to work save yet re-work into layers even when the file had been saved.

JPG- A JPG file (Joint Photographic Experts Group) is a file for compressing graphic file such as images. This is the most commonly used file for saving any type of images. However with changing a file to a JPG it tends to reduce the quality of the images or document.

TIFF- A TIFF file (Tag Image File Format) is similar to a JPG it compresses a file so it is suitable for moving around. printing and it doesnt take up as much memory a file such as a PSD.

GIF- A GIF file (Graphics Interchange Format) is a specially designed file made for graphical designers and web tech designers who may use it for bulletin boards or logo design. This type of file is not avaliable for everyone it does reqire a certain downloaded system.

PNG- A PNG file (Portable Network Graphics) is a back up or replacment file for a GIF file. It works in the same way as a GIF file however it is set up by two different companies. However a PNG file is avaliable to use freely.

Collections Brief inspiration

Rosie James is a major influence for my collections project. I have chosen her to focus on for the majority of the project because of her interesting methods and technical aspects.James uses images of crowds and transforms them by adding layers of different fabric to create the background for her pieces and has then worked over the top with bondaweb patches in shapes and silhouettes of the people in her photos, she then works over the top of that with machine embroidery to create more detail to the figures such as clothes and facial features.

Checkout David Oliveira. A truly unique artist who creates amazing "scribble work" with wire that he suspends form ceilings, walls and chairs e.c.t. He molds the wire into portraits, clothes, human features, nature and animals all from scratch. Really love his work, its inspiring and unique.

Collections Project.
I have decided to base my collections on Post stamps and family photos, the aim of this project is to create a collection of samples which you have made yourself from research and other methods.

Artist research and my own interpretations.

Rosie James, a free hand embroidery artist who
bases her collections on crowds of people. I chose to base my initial research on James as I love the way she has used easy 3-dimensional subjects and turns them into textile pieces.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Turner, a historical artist who mainly works with
watercolour to create an atmospheric landscape of scenery that could also be translated into an old family photo. I also like the colour scheme in which Turner uses like the Oranges and Yellows against the deep browns and blacks.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have used a mixture of textile and art medias to create my own stamp marks.

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Machine embroidery based on my Rosie James research.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Transfer print and free hand machine embroidery from
one of my own family photos and a collected photo.

I've just set up an online portfolio you might want to have a look at if you would like to see my work in more detail. Feel free to comment if you have any questions :).

What are PDF Files?????

A PDF (Portable Document Format) was created by Adobe Systems so people could open these files and that would be readable by all different types of software without having to get new software giving the meaning of portability. Its flexibility mean it can also handle video, text and picture files.
